Dung Hoang is an illustrator based in Salt Lake City, Utah. A multidisciplinary talent and a recipient of numerous awards, he specializes in commercial illustrations utilizing printmaking, mix media, collage and photomontage. His work is often described as visceral, textural and painterly. Dung has been recognized for excellence in graphic design and illustration from The American Institute of Graphic Arts, Communication Arts, Graphis, the Addys, and Print. His work has spanned from edgy design for Hollywood studios DreamWorks Pictures, Nickelodeon and Warner Bros. to award-winning interactive work for corporate giants Intel and Kodak.
Dung has taught at the University of Utah and has served as Education Chair and Web Chair on the AIGA Salt Lake City board. His work for the local chapter’s Website garnered AIGA’s Best Web Design in 2002 and 2003. In 1999, Dung took a leap of faith and dived into his first love, illustration.
More than 20 years later and going strong, his client roster of advertising, brand and editorial illustration includes Converse, Elektra Records, Playboy, Esquire, Best Life, and The New York Times. He is a regular contributor to various trade and academic publications including work for Johns Hopkins University, Harvard University, UCLA and The Norwegian Medical Association.
